Celcelestron Telescope Starsense Explorer Dx6 SCT
Celestron has reinvented the manual telescope with StarSense Explorer–the first telescope that uses your smartphone to analyze the night sky and calculate its position in real time. Designed with beginners in mind, StarSense Explorer features an intuitive app interface and step-by-step tutorials, making it feel like having your own personal tour guide to the universe.
Dock, Launch, Explore
Forget complicated star charts, inaccurate planetarium apps, and computerized mounts. With StarSense Explorer, finding celestial objects is faster, easier, and more precise than ever.
After a quick setup, simply place your smartphone into the unique StarSense dock and launch the StarSense Explorer app. A fast, two-minute alignment process matches your phone to the telescope’s optics. The app then generates a list of celestial objects currently visible in the sky.
Select an object and on-screen arrows guide you as you move the telescope. When the target is perfectly aligned and ready to view, the bullseye turns green–making object location simple and confidence-building, even for first-time users.
Smartphone Compatibility
StarSense Explorer works with most modern smartphones and is compatible with Android 12 and later as well as iOS 18 and newer, including iPhone XR and later models. Users with older phones may still use the app, but will not be able to reinstall it once uninstalled. A full compatibility list is available online.
Patented StarSense Sky Recognition Technology
StarSense Explorer uses patented sky recognition technology combined with your smartphone to determine exactly where the telescope is pointing. At its core is a Lost in Space Algorithm (LISA)–the same type of technology satellites use to orient themselves in orbit.
Unlike traditional astronomy apps that rely only on a phone’s gyros and accelerometers, StarSense Explorer analyzes actual star patterns overhead and matches them to its internal database. This allows the app to accurately determine when your target is truly visible in the eyepiece.
High Quality Altazimuth Mount with Slow Motion Control
A stable altazimuth mount provides a solid foundation for the StarSense Explorer DX. Slip clutches and geared slow-motion controls on both axes allow smooth movement and precise targeting. As objects drift across the night sky, you can easily follow them with gentle turns of the control knobs.
The system is supported by an adjustable, full-height tripod, offering stability and comfort for extended observing sessions.
Dazzling Views with High Quality Optics
Featuring a 6” Schmidt-Cassegrain optical tube, this telescope uses Celestron’s proven optical design refined over more than 50 years. The large aperture gathers ample light while remaining compact and lightweight.
Expect sharp, bright views of Jupiter’s four Galilean moons, its cloud bands and Great Red Spot, Saturn’s rings, the Trapezium in the Orion Nebula, and the stunning Pleiades Open Star Cluster.
All air-to-glass surfaces are treated with StarBright XLT optical coatings, increasing contrast and light transmission for brighter, more detailed views of the Moon, planets, galaxies, and nebulae.
Perfect for the City or Dark Sky Sites
Even from light-polluted urban locations, StarSense Explorer can easily reveal Jupiter, Saturn, Venus, the Orion Nebula, double stars, and other well-known celestial objects.
When taken to darker skies, the telescope truly shines–bringing targets like the Andromeda Galaxy, Hercules Open Star Cluster, and many more deep-sky objects within easy reach.

☀️ Solar Warning:
➠ Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result..
➠ Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
➠ Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
