Celestron Telescope Nexstar 114 SLT 23091-DS Short
Celestron’s NexStar Star Location Telescope (SLT) has remained a long-time favorite among astronomy enthusiasts due to its excellent optical quality, intuitive computerized control system, and robust single-arm fork mount design.
The telescope package includes a pre-assembled adjustable stainless-steel tripod, a quick-release fork arm, NexStar+ computerized hand control, a 114mm Newtonian reflector optical tube, along with a variety of useful accessories.
Weighing just 16 pounds, the complete system is lightweight and easy to transport. Thanks to its tool-free assembly and the fast SkyAlign alignment process, you can be fully set up and observing within minutes. This makes the NexStar 114SLT ideal for spontaneous viewing sessions as well as extended nights under the stars.
With the NexStar 114SLT, you can observe fine details on the Moon’s surface, track Venus through its phases, spot the polar ice caps on Mars, view Jupiter along with its four Galilean moons, and clearly see Saturn’s ring system. The telescope is also suitable for daytime terrestrial viewing, making it useful for landscape and wildlife observation.
The Mount & Technologies
Computerized Alt-Azimuth Mount
The NexStar SLT utilizes a single fork arm alt-azimuth mount that automatically tracks celestial objects as they move across the sky. The mount is securely supported by a pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod for stable viewing.
NexStar+ Hand Control
This advanced hand controller allows automatic slewing to over 40,000 celestial objects at the press of a button. The extensive database includes more than 600 galaxies, 300 star clusters, and numerous striking double stars. If you’re unsure what to observe, the Sky Tour feature generates a customized list of the best objects currently visible based on your precise time and location.
SkyAlign Technology
Celestron’s proprietary SkyAlign system makes setup quick and straightforward. Simply point the telescope at any three bright objects in the sky, and the system will determine its position and align itself automatically. No prior knowledge of star names is required–you can even select bright planets or the Moon. For more details about SkyAlign technology, visit here.
Power
Designed for portability, the NexStar SLT can be powered by eight AA batteries (not included) or a PowerTank portable battery (sold separately), making it ideal for use at remote dark-sky sites. The internal battery compartment powers the precision servo motors while eliminating cord wrap issues common with external power sources. A 12V AC adapter (sold separately) may also be used.
Accessories Included
The telescope package includes a StarPointer™ red-dot finderscope and two eyepieces (25mm and 9mm). These eyepieces provide both low- and high-magnification viewing options. The StarPointer™ finderscope allows for fast and accurate centering of objects in the eyepiece, making observing easier and more enjoyable.
The NexStar 114SLT is designed to grow with your experience. It is compatible with Celestron’s full range of modern accessories, including StarSense AutoAlign, the SkyPortal WiFi module, and PowerTank Lithium.
Starry Night Software
Your purchase includes a FREE download of Celestron’s Starry Night software. This powerful astronomy program helps you explore the night sky, learn about celestial objects, and plan future observing sessions. Starry Night is widely regarded as one of the leading astronomy software platforms available, offering detailed tools and resources for exploring our solar system and far beyond.
