Celestron Reducer/Corrector Lens – Two Telescopes in One
Unlock Wide-Field Visuals and Faster Imaging with Your SCT
Transform your Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescope into a versatile astro-imaging and deep-sky observation powerhouse with the Celestron Reducer/Corrector Lens. Designed to significantly reduce the telescope’s focal length and focal ratio, this compact optical accessory opens up a world of wider fields, lower magnification, and shorter exposure times—perfect for both visual observers and astrophotographers.
Why You Need a Reducer/Corrector Lens
Have you ever wished your long focal length SCT could deliver wider views or capture deep sky objects faster with your camera? The Celestron Reducer/Corrector Lens makes that possible by converting your f/10 system into f/6.3, or your f/11 system into f/7. This results in:
-
Wider field of view with any eyepiece
-
Lower magnification for easier object tracking and framing
-
Shorter exposure times for deep-sky astrophotography
-
Improved imaging performance in low-light or fast-capture scenarios
How It Works
The lens threads directly onto the rear cell of your Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. From there, you can easily attach various accessories like:
-
T-Adapters for DSLR/mirrorless camera connection
-
1.25” Visual Backs for standard eyepiece use
-
Star Diagonals for comfortable viewing
-
Off-Axis Guiders for precision guiding in long exposures
Installation is tool-free, and the accessory remains securely in place with its knurled edge grip, ensuring a hassle-free setup in the field or at home.
Perfect for Visual and Imaging Use
Whether you're visually observing star fields or photographing distant galaxies, this lens adapts your telescope into a faster, more flexible system. Its multi-coated optics enhance contrast and maximize light transmission, providing clear, bright views across the field—even on large sensors.
Use Cases Include:
-
Deep Sky Photography – Reduced focal ratio allows you to capture faint nebulae and galaxies faster
-
Lunar & Planetary Imaging – Wider framing options for moon mosaics or planetary systems
-
Terrestrial Digiscoping – Excellent performance in low-light conditions with slower film or sensors
-
Visual Observing – Lower power views with wider framing of clusters and large nebulae
Built for Durability and Performance
-
Body Material: Precision-machined anodized aluminum
-
Grip: Textured knurled surface for secure handling
-
Interior Finish: Matte-black, glare-threaded for enhanced contrast
-
Lens Coating: Fully multi-coated for optimal light throughput
When not in use, always cover the lens with the included plastic caps to prevent dust accumulation and maintain performance over time.
Optical Performance Note
While the lens reduces field curvature typical in Schmidt-Cassegrain systems, it does not eliminate it entirely. However, it significantly flattens the field at moderate to high magnifications, resulting in visibly improved sharpness right to the edge—whether you're observing or imaging.
