The ZWO ASI676MC is a next-generation all-sky and planetary camera equipped with Sony’s IMX676 CMOS sensor and advanced STARVIS 2 technology. This camera delivers exceptional low-light performance and a remarkably high resolution of 12 megapixels (3552 × 3552) with a square 1/1.6" sensor (7.1mm x 7.1mm). Designed for meteor recording, full-sky surveillance, and detailed planetary imaging, the ASI676MC stands out for its clarity and compatibility across various astronomical use cases.

One of the most compelling features of the ASI676MC is its square sensor format, which simplifies mosaic stitching and wide-field imaging. Unlike rectangular sensors, it ensures symmetry in both horizontal and vertical directions, which is especially advantageous when using fisheye or wide-angle lenses. This makes the camera highly effective for panoramic or stitched sky views.

The STARVIS 2 sensor technology, developed by Sony, provides superior low-light sensitivity and dynamic range. It enhances near-infrared performance and outperforms the human eye in dark environments. Combined with a peak quantum efficiency of approximately 83%, the ASI676MC ensures a high signal-to-noise ratio for clearer and more accurate imaging.

The built-in High Conversion Gain (HCG) mode automatically activates at gain levels above 180. This feature maintains a wide dynamic range (up to 11 stops) and reduces readout noise to as low as 0.56e. The camera also features excellent dark current suppression, ensuring sharper images during long exposures or in dark sky conditions.

For improved optical quality, the ASI676MC includes an IR-cut coated window (21mm diameter, 1.1mm thick) that blocks infrared interference and enhances the image clarity.
