Product Description

The ZWO ASI462MC is an advanced color astronomy camera engineered for high-resolution planetary, solar (with filter), and lunar photography. It utilizes the Sony IMX462 CMOS sensor with a 1/2.8" format, delivering crisp images at a resolution of 1936x1096 with 2.9 ?m pixels. The 12-bit ADC supports a full well capacity of 11,200 electrons and impressively low read noise levels down to 0.47e.

This sensor excels in near-infrared sensitivity (800–1000nm), making it highly effective for IR imaging—nearly double the QE of the ASI290MC. The ASI462MC is a direct upgrade to the ASI290MC, offering the same resolution and pixel size but enhanced performance in quantum efficiency and noise reduction.

With High Conversion Gain (HCG) mode, the camera maintains high dynamic range at lower read noise levels. At gain 80, HCG automatically activates to deliver minimal noise without sacrificing dynamic range—nearly 12 stops.

A rolling shutter and high-speed USB 3.0 interface enable frame rates up to 136 FPS at full resolution. It also includes an ST4 port for autoguiding compatibility with telescope mounts.

The body is CNC-machined from red anodized aluminum, offering excellent durability in field conditions. An anti-reflection protective glass keeps images sharp and clean. It features a standard T/T2 (M42x0.75) thread, plus a 1.25" nosepiece and a 2" short barrel for versatile telescope attachment.
