While standard Barlows can introduce vignetting, pupil shift, and edge distortions-especially with long focal length eyepieces - Powermates use an innovative 4-element optical design that eliminates these issues.

Unlike conventional Barlows, which move the exit pupil and can reduce image quality, the Powermate system combines a negative doublet with a positive pupil-correcting doublet. This telecentric design keeps the exit pupil exactly where the eyepiece designer intended, preserving full-field sharpness, long eye relief, and comfortable viewing.
