Lunt LS50FHa 50mm Front-Mounted Double Stack H-Alpha Solar Filter
The Lunt LS50FHa Solar Filter features a 50 mm aperture with no central obstruction and an integrally tuned etalon, specifically designed for use on Lunt ED Refractors.
Lunt Solar Systems will soon introduce a broader range of ED Telescopes that meet your solar observing requirements by day and astronomical viewing needs by night, allowing one telescope to serve both purposes.
Lunt Solar also offers a complete line of dedicated Solar Telescopes.
You must use a matching Lunt Blocking Filter with any Lunt Solar front-mounted Filter – this is a safety requirement. Therefore, select the blocking filter that best matches your needs. For imaging, a larger blocking filter is recommended due to the in-focus requirements of cameras.
Recommended Blocking Filters:
Removing the LS50FHa Solar Filter for Night Use
The Lunt ED refractors are designed to be retrofitted with the LS50FHa Hydrogen-alpha Filter, allowing use during the day for solar viewing. The filter can be easily removed, enabling the same Lunt ED telescope to be used for nighttime observations.
With an estimated bandpass of <0.70 Angstroms, the LS50FHa Solar Filter delivers high-contrast views of both solar surface and edge details. Adding an additional etalon system (double-stacking) narrows the bandpass to about <0.50 Angstroms, providing higher resolution for viewing and imaging. The LS50FHa is available separately for those who already possess a Lunt Blocking Filter.
