BLOCKING FILTERS ARE ESSENTIAL FOR ALL LUNT SOLAR SYSTEMS

Lunt Solar Systems provides four (4) distinct blocking filter apertures designed for use with their Etalon systems, available in a range of housing configurations to suit both visual observing and imaging needs. Each Blocking Filter contains additional internal filters vital for the safety and performance of the solar system. Moreover, every Lunt Solar blocking filter incorporates a specialized filter system, and it’s important to note that Lunt can only guarantee safety and performance when a Lunt blocking filter is paired with a Lunt H-alpha telescope or filter.

To determine the correct blocking filter for your setup, refer to the usage recommendations below for both visual and imaging purposes. Then, match your telescope’s focal length with the appropriate blocking filter. You can select your preferred model—B600, B1200, or B1800—from the drop-down list above. The B3400 Blocking Filter, housed in a 2" straight-through extension tube, can be purchased separately via the provided link.

Focal Length Recommendations for Visual Use

• B600: Suitable for telescopes with focal lengths up to 600 mm

• B1200: Suitable for telescopes with focal lengths up to 1200 mm

• B1800: Suitable for telescopes with focal lengths up to 1800 mm

• B3400: Suitable for telescopes with focal lengths up to 3400 mm

Focal Length Recommendations for Imaging Use

When imaging with a Lunt Solar System, it is advised to select the next larger blocking filter than the one recommended for visual observing. This is because imaging setups often require additional back focus, meaning the blocking filter must be positioned further up the light cone. Consequently, the filter aperture must be larger to accommodate the wider cone angle.

• B600: For imaging with telescopes up to 400 mm focal length

• B1200: For imaging with telescopes up to 600 mm focal length

• B1800: For imaging with telescopes up to 1200 mm focal length

• B3400: For imaging with telescopes up to 1800 mm focal length
