Celestron EdgeHD 9.25" Optical Tube Assembly (CGE Dovetail)
Discover the Universe in High Definition
EdgeHD is an advanced aplanatic, flat-field Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope designed to deliver distortion-free, high-resolution views across both wide visual and photographic fields. Its innovative optical system eliminates not only off-axis coma but also ensures an astrograph-quality flat focal plane–aintaining pinpoint sharpness to the very edges of the field.
True Astrograph Design
While many telescopes marketed as “astrographs” only achieve sharp stars across a curved focal surface, this can cause edge-of-field blurring when paired with flat digital sensors. EdgeHD optics provide a focal plane more than three times flatter than a standard Schmidt-Cassegrain, and far superior to most coma-free designs. This ensures perfectly sharp stars across even the largest CCD and CMOS imaging chips.
Enhanced Optical Performance
With its superior edge correction, EdgeHD not only produces rounder, more natural-looking stars, but also improves overall resolution and limiting magnitude compared to other scopes of similar aperture. Combined with Celestron’s StarBright XLT coatings on every optical surface, EdgeHD maximizes light transmission across the full spectrum for both visual observation and astrophotography.
Precision Mechanical Features
The EdgeHD optical tube assembly has been carefully engineered to complement its advanced optics, providing stable and reliable performance during every observing session.
➜ Mirror clutches – Adjustable tension clutches secure the primary mirror to minimize image shift during long exposures. Once locked, flexible rods hold the mirror firmly without applying damaging pressure, keeping the image steady in both the eyepiece and camera sensor.
➜ Cooling vents – Rear-cell ventilation ports allow warm air to escape from behind the primary mirror. Each vent is fitted with a 50-mesh filter that prevents dust intrusion while maintaining airflow.
➜ Fastar compatibility – At its native f/10, EdgeHD is ideal for capturing fine details in small deep-sky objects. Add a Barlow lens for planetary, lunar, and solar imaging, or swap the secondary mirror for a Fastar lens system to achieve blazing-fast f/2 wide-field astrophotography. This makes EdgeHD one of the most versatile imaging telescopes available today.
Individually Tested for Quality
Every EdgeHD telescope undergoes rigorous quality control before leaving the factory. In addition to optical surface inspections, each unit is tested with a camera and artificial star to confirm it meets strict imaging performance standards. This final acceptance process guarantees that your telescope is field-ready and capable of producing professional-grade astrophotography results.

☀️ Solar Warning:
➠ Never look directly at the Sun with the naked eye or with an optic (unless you have the proper solar filter). Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result..
➠ Never use your optic to project an image of the Sun onto any surface. Internal heat build-up can damage the optic and any accessories attached to it.
➠ Never leave your optic unsupervised. Make sure an adult who is familiar with the correct operating procedures is with your optic at all times, especially when children are present.
